Program Structure

We provide transportation ONLY for special field trips and events; we recommend carpooling for practices and games.

FYI Purgolders play in local leagues, which determine game schedules and locations. The league organizers post schedules at least one week prior to the game on their websites. Coaches and FYI Staff try to keep TeamSnap schedules up to date as we receive game information.

Soccer teams participate in Capital East Soccer Club and play in the Madison Area Youth Soccer Association: https://www.capitaleastsoccer.com/

FYI Purgolders practices take place at locations on the northeast side. After teams are formed, all practice schedules can be found on this website, as well as on your TeamSnap account.

Basketball Gym Locations

Unique to the FYI Purgolders model are Collaborative Practices, once a week 2-3 hour practices combining up to 4 teams from similar age groups in a coed “camp style” structure practice. Collaborative practices:

  • Provide a supportive environment for youth to develop their social, emotional, and cognitive skills in addition to athletic skills
  • Highlight a central theme such as: self-efficacy, leadership, mental toughness, decision-making
  • Feature occasional guest speakers from East High or Madison College coaches, players, or sports professionals/ex-athletes
  • Provide a collaborative opportunity for FYI Purgolders coaches to learn and share coaching methods
  • Bring multiple teams together to build a sense of community and East-side pride
